Ceramic : Comes in single, double and even triple-fired white clay and or red clay depending on the country of origin. They can be used for floor or wall installations.

Porcelain: Ceramic tiles with a water absorption rate of less than 0.5% that are used to cover floors and walls. They can either be unglazed or glazed.

Stone: A product of nature. A stone such as marble, limestone, slate, travertine, or sandstone that is not artificial or man-made. Glass: pieces of glass formed into consistent shapes, very popular in mosaic sheets.

Glue down installation : Installation with glue. With a glue-down installation, you ensure unmatched stability and resistance of your floor for many years.

Installation with 2G click system : Installation without glue (floating installation). This product is equipped with a 2G click system at the ends, for a simple and fast installation. This system makes it possible to nest each tile in one another.

Installation with 5G click system : Installation without glue (floating installation). This product is equipped with a 2G (long side) and 5G (short side) click system for quick and easy installation. This system allows to tie each tile in one another and can even be removed if necessary.

Wall or Floor covering.

Area where the tiles can be installed.

Real dimensions of the tiles.

Rectification is an extra step in the manufacturing process that produces tiles with the same dimensional characteristics. The major advantage of this operation is to lay the tiles with nearly no joints (at least 2 mm). This explains why a rectified tile is more expensive than the same tile that is non-rectified.

Ceramic tiles abrasion resistance is the capacity of the glaze surface to resist to wear caused by foot traffic or the abrasion caused by mechanical equipment (lift trucks, etc.). The wear action is strictly linked with the mechanical agent (rubber sole, leather sole, etc.), the material carried onto the surface (water, sand, mud, etc.) and is classified in five categories depending on the areas they are to be used in:

PEI I Tiles for areas with light traffic and without abrasive dirt, e.g. bathrooms, bedrooms.

PEI II Tiles for areas with average traffic and medium to low abrasion, e.g. studying rooms, living rooms.

PEI III Tiles for areas with medium to high traffic and average abrasion, e.g. foyer, kitchen in private residences

PEI IV Tiles for areas with intense traffic, e.g. restaurants, offices, shops, public offices (excluding floors under cash register and shop counters and narrow unavoidable passageways).

PEI V Tiles for areas with especially intense traffic.

The dimension through the tile as opposed to its length or width.

The resistance of the product is directly related to the ability of the surface to withstand the wear caused by foot traffic or the abrasion caused by mechanical equipment (lift trucks, etc.). The wear action is strictly linked with the mechanical agent (rubber sole, leather sole, etc.), the material carried onto the surface (water, sand, mud, etc.) and is classified in three categories depending on the areas they are to be used in

Heavy commercial : Tiles for areas with especially intense traffic.

Light commercial : Tiles for areas with intense traffic, e.g. restaurants, offices, shops, public offices (excluding floors under cash register and shop counters and narrow unavoidable passageways).

Residential: Tiles for areas with medium to high traffic and average abrasion, e.g.entrance and kitchen in private residences.

Luxury vinyl tile (3000 & 4000): Made of 100% virgin vinyl.

Luxury vinyl tile + fiberglass: Echo 4300 is composed of several layers of 100% virgin vinyl, inside which we added a fiberglass mesh to improve its dimensional stability.

Luxury vinyl tile + wpc + underlayment 1mm: Echo 6500 is a luxury vinyl tile to which we have added a core of waterproof wood plastic composites (WPC), which makes the product very rigid and stable. The 6500 series also has an acoustic membrane on the back, making it possible to install directly on the subfloor.

The wear layer is measured by its thickness. It defines the resistance of the product, and it is between 0.3 mm (usage: light commercial) and 0.5 mm (usage: heavy commercial). It is this element that should be checked for the resistance of the product.
